The SolarTrain is a wacky example of something further removed from information technology.

FreeSoftware is clearly something we can use on almost any OpenSourcePublicWorks project. The question is, how far into non-infotech, yet knowledge intensive kinds of enterprises, (e.g. transportation, space exploration, law, medicine), can we bring the OpenSource ethos? I don't mean quite the same thing as NonProfit, athough that's clearly a related idea.
