The Personal Telco Project is building community owned and operated public WirelessNetworks. We are using consumer grade 802.11x hardware and a bunch of FreeSoftware to mash it all together.
We are particularly interested in building a "wireless cloud" over the greater Portland (Oregon) metro area using PersonalTelco:AdhocRouting tools to build organically growing meshed networks. We currently have about 70 active nodes up and almost 10 point to point links. -- AdamShand
