The device that defines the point of interaction in a GraphicUserInterface. The primary interface in computing today is the mouse [UsingTheMouse]. At work, I use a trackball. Most HandheldComputing platforms use PenComputing for their user interface. This works better on a device that fits in a hand than with a TouchScreen, because using your pointer finger as your PointingDevice gives you JargonFile:GorillaArm.
