This engine was used to study the use of wikis by young children for the purpose of collaborative storytelling http://iit-iti.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca/publications/nrc-48234_e.html. It was also used to study the usability of wikis in general http://iit-iti.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca/publications/nrc-48272_e.html.
More recently, the developers of Lizzy Wiki have been exploring features for supporting multilingual wiki content http://lizzy.iit.nrc.ca/CrossLangWiki/public/ywiki.cgi.
